You are currently viewing Welcome to Bitcoin: How We Got to the Edge of the Rabbit Hole

Our history with bitcoin went something like this:

2011 – Bitcoin? What is that – some useless virtual coin?

2017 – Wow, we should have bought bitcoin, look at the price going up!!

2018 – Wow, bitcoin really crashed, good thing we didn’t buy bitcoin!!

2021 – WTF! Why didn’t we buy bitcoin when it crashed? We were so stupid! Now it’s too late!

When we finally started buying bitcoin, and it went down in the last few weeks of the year, we held on to what we owned and bought more. By that time, we knew that the price drops simply meant “bitcoin on sale.”

But the journey to that point took a lot of research and struggling with how much to buy, when to buy, do we go “all in.” How much faith do we really have in this technology? Did we miss the boat on this?

We believe that not only did we not miss the boat, we caught one of the first ones. The potential upside for bitcoin is almost unlimited.  But as of 2021, only about 13% of Canadians owned bitcoin.

But the more we learned about bitcoin, the more we realized that its adoption doesn’t just bring financial benefits. It will improve our freedoms, how our societies are governed, and our attitudes toward the future and each other.

Experts like Michael Saylor, Robert Breedlove and Saifedean Ammous have eloquently explained how our financial system and monetary supply directly influence our attitudes and psyche. When people talk about “going down the bitcoin rabbit hole,” this is what they mean.

Explaining it properly requires understanding the basics about money, but not in a dry, high school economics course type of way; we’ll be looking at all these complex relationships between money and the rest of our lives, and in turn inviting you to join us in that proverbial rabbit hole.

One of the most influential podcasts that we listen to on bitcoin was The Saylor series with Michael Salylor and Robert Breedlove. Indepth but worth every minute. Everything you want to know about money and energy and how it relates to bitcoin.

Michael Saylor joins Robert Breedlove to discuss anthropology, energy, and technology from first principles as we build the intellectual foundation necessary to truly grasp the historic significance of Bitcoin.
